Let me start this review by saying I am not a typical Fringe reviewer. That’s my wife’s job. Me, I prefer to support the Fringe as a house manager. (You can, too!) You will often see me in the back of the room at the theaters, makings sure people get seated, making announcements and introducing the performers.
So why am I writing this review? I thought the message of this show was so important, and the way it was delivered so much fun, that I was motivated to put pen to paper (ok, fingers to keyboard).
At the core, this show is a love story. A sweet, and very funny look at how Jeremy overcame fears of loss and the distaste for they way big weddings overpower the real meaning of marriage to be with the woman he loved.
Intertwined with the love story, are the influences of our times. The struggles of people who because of their sexual preference are often denied the right to marry, helped storyteller Jeremy Schaefer find the meaning buried beneath the rituals.
The show asks the question “What’s a Wedding Got to Do With It?” Join Jeremy as he shares his experiences and gives you a chance to laugh out loud as you discover the answer for yourself.
