It’s not that comedian Matt Holt is immature … he’s just been asked to act his age his entire life. That is the premise of his IndyFringe show “Acting My Age” which I was lucky enough to catch on Sunday evening. (His premiere performance at ComedySportz sold out and it’s been tricky getting a ticket since.)

One of the great things about stand up comedy is that there is no right or wrong way to approach it, and every show will likely be a bit different based on  audience reaction. During “Acting My Age,” the local comedian shared stories from the road to comedy success that kept the audience laughing. For example, I’ve personally never been on a cruise, but after hearing him describe it as a “Wal-Mart on the sea” my mental image has completely changed!

Matt’s show focuses on acting his age (or not at all) as he gleefully adds a touch of fun and whimsy to each of his bits. I think I am going to take him up on the offer to start living fun at heart. You can purchase tickets for “Acting My Age” at ComedySportz online, at theater box offices (cash only) and by phone. You can also purchase tickets from the Indy Fringe office.
