It’s hard to imagine a world without Schoolhouse Rock! Whether you caught it the first time around when it debuted in early 1970s on Saturday Morning television, during its second television stint in the 90s, or watched it during class in school – it’s groovy graphics and catchy tunes are hard to forget!
You may not know that all of the songs from Schoolhouse Rock were vetted by an educational consultant from Bank Street School of Education. Their lessons still hold up more than 40 years later.
This IndyFringe show is a fresh take on classic Schoolhouse Rock songs from the Christian Youth Theater. You’ll quickly forget how young the actors are once the show gets rolling. You’ll probably also sing along and tap your feet to the music. Don’t worry – they won’t mind.
The familiar songs help a new teacher prepare for her first day in the classroom, which is also a fitting theme for this time of the year. It’s a lot of fun to sit back and enjoy songs like “Just a Bill,” “Lolly, Lolly” and “ Conjunction Junction” along with an audience of people.
The well-acted musical is also family-friendly – lots of dancing and singing to keep the kiddos interested, too. Buy tickets here.
