Tim Lee, the Scientist turned Comedian, has a comedic formula. Applying the Scientific method to the everyday world around us = comedy. It’s a formula that works. He’s funny and informative. I don’t want anyone to get the idea this is a dry presentation or some boring lecture. It isn’t, but it is educational—that’s part of the formula. His classroom is the stage, and his subject is humor. I can honestly say I have never laughed at formulas and flow charts—until now.

Who is the Scientist turned comedian?

The scientist turned comedian Tim Lee has Ph.D. He worked at the esteemed Scripps Institute for Oceanography; he left academia because he was tired of reading and writing papers, so he joined the ranks of the corporate world. That wasn’t a fit either, and then he found comedy. It was a fit. He had a formula.

Having fun with science

He shared charts on self-reporting bias, bimodal distribution, poisson ratio, fuzzy logic and more to explain how alcohol affects our choices, how workers become managers, why some folks talk more than others, and much more. After the show, I asked Tim…I mean Dr. Lee why anyone should come to his show, he said, “Because it’s fun. It’s comedy for everyone but especially nerds.” Comedy for nerds, I like that and whether you’re a nerd or not you will too. If you want to enjoy yourself, laugh, and have fun. Come see Dr. Lee. He’ll give you more than just a passing grade.
