The line for “Tipped & Tipsy” formed pretty quickly; festival buzz spreads fast. It’s hard to resist seeing a San Francisco 2013 Best of Fest award winner on a Saturday afternoon, let alone a show featuring one woman playing 14 characters.

Alcohol induced courage fueled this tale from Happy’s Bar which is considered home to a few regulars, one of which has just been cut off by the bartender. Without any props Jill Vice tells the story of the bartender named Candy, three favorite regulars, and the greasy owner who are all drinking themselves to death.
The show is funny of course, but also sad, touching, and moving. I went to “Tipped & Tipsy” expecting lots of laughs and was pleasantly pleased with the compelling story to accompany the comedy. Her physicality, timing, and delivery are wonderful. … Now please try to remember that Tipping Insures Prompt Service the next time you are waiting for a drink at the bar.
