It takes a few minutes to figure out what’s going on as this play, What is this Place?, written by Jan White begins. It is the story of four women, trapped under mysterious circumstances in a place they do not recognize,

I found myself wondering, along with the four women where they were and why they were there. The confusion and disorientation is a deliberate. The author wants you to feel what they are feeling in this well written and powerfully performed piece.

The pieces come together slowly as you feel their pain, laugh occasionally and cheer them on as they look for a way out.

Kudos also go to director Lori Raffel, who’s decision to create a very simple set, and leave the rest to our imagination gave us the perfect backdrop for the raw emotions portrayed on stage.
